Position Information

Hiring Department: Athletics

Posting End Date: Open until filled. This posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications have been received.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends.

FLSA status: Exempt.

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and education.

Travel: Required.

A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.



Purpose of Position

Responsible for assisting in administration of all areas related to the success of a Division I Intercollegiate program.

Essential Functions

Responsible for recruiting student-athletes, on and off campus.

Supervises academic progress of student-athletes with a strong commitment to academics, emphasizing academic success and retention.

Coordinates clinics, summer camps, volunteer activities, and fundraisers for the sport.

Active involvement in the El Paso community.

Assists in the scheduling of home track and field meets.

Responsible for planning, supervising, and evaluating sport practice/team travel/meet management.

Assists with the development of post-season and summer individual improvement programs.

Knowledge of and compliance with NCAA Rules and Regulations including attendance of NCAA Rules Seminars, timely completion of all NCAA forms and requests for information.

Employee agrees to abide by the Code of Ethics as set forth by the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Texas System.

Extensive knowledge of teaching technical skills in sprints, hurdles and relays.

Demonstrates excellent record keeping skills, comfortable enforcing discipline rules, and experience in promoting safe environment.

Demonstrates strong communication skills and maintains high ethical standards.

Ability to travel extensively.

Must have a valid driver license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.

Complies with all State and University policies.

Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree.

and

Experience: One year of coaching and/or playing experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree. Competitive athletic experience preferred.
