Summary:
The Head Women's Golf Coach is responsible for leading the NCAA D-III women's golf program in compliance with NCAA, North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) and The College of Wooster policies. Key duties include coaching, scouting, recruiting, instructing, strength training, arranging travel, budget management, equipment tracking, fundraising and alumni engagement. The head coach will also have a teaching assignment in the Physical Education minor. This role supports the mission of the College in its focus on preparing students to become leaders of character and influence in an interdependent global community.
Job Requirements:
Essential Departmental Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and directs all training, conditioning, and competition schedules, ensuring the program's competitive leadership in the NCAC and NCAA Division III.
- Recruits academically and athletically strong applicants for the selective and competitive applicant pool at The College of Wooster in partnership with the Office of Admissions.
- Manages administrative operations including budgeting, team travel, room reservations, meals, and equipment procurement (in coordination with Purchasing).
- In partnership with the Office of Advancement, develops and maintain a strong alumni and parent support system and assist with fundraising efforts.
- Maintains team statistics and establishes a strong social media presence in partnership with the Office of Athletic Communications.
- Stays current with sport and coaching best practices to support student-athlete welfare in conjunction with athletic trainers.
- Builds a strong relationship with the Wooster Country Club for scheduling of practice and competition times and opportunities.
- Collaborates and works closely the with College of Wooster Men's Golf program.
- Participates in the NCAC governance for Golf at coaches' meetings.
- Fulfills additional duties in teaching, committee work, and administration as determined annually by leadership.
- Serves as an active member of the athletic department's team, which provides leadership, goals, and program implementation to our nearly 2,000 undergraduate students.
- Develops and maintains mutually supportive and collaborative working relationships with student affairs colleagues, faculty, and other campus partners to accomplish shared objectives and tasks.
- Develops meaningful connections with students, staff and faculty by being available and visible on campus.
- Engages team members in community service activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Three to five years related experience highlighting a successful record of coaching and recruiting at the intercollegiate level.
- LPGA/PGA Membership designation preferred
- Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
- The ability to obtain College driver certification is preferred.
- Community Relations experience
- CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification is required (and can be completed after hire).

Work Environment:
- Required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays.
- Regularly travels in outside weather conditions, is exposed to wet or humid conditions, extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, and is occasionally exposed to fumes, smoke and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Travel for athletic contests, recruiting, coaches meetings and convention/caucus attendance is required.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the coach is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
